M&S is selling Marmite flavoured butter, cream cheese, and cheddar twists
Marmite might be the most divisive condiment but kudos to their marketing team for trying to make it more appealing to the naysayers (remember when they tried to hypnotise us into loving it?)
They’ve already launched a peanut butter edition to get nut fans in on the action.
And now comes two new forms of spreadable Marmite – butter and cream cheese – plus a savoury cheese twist. They’re really upping their game in 2020.
The latest spreads are on offer exclusively at M&S, where you can also pick up a bunch of bagels or crumpets to make the perfect pairing with the new items.
The move comes after folks at Marmite received a surge in interest for a cream cheese last year.
Tthe brand is giving the fans what they want and throwing in a few other bits which might just convince the haters to give it a go.
Just head to Marks & Spencer stores from 4 March to grab the stuff.
Metro staff put the new items to the test (bar the cheese twist, which is not out yet).
Natalie says: ‘The Marmite cream cheese is really soft and luxurious and there’s just enough Marmite flavour to cut through that creaminess. The Marmite butter has a really strong flavour, so if you’re a big Marmite fan – you will love this on toast. Definitely not one for the haters’.
Meanwhile, Jessica says: ‘Verdict on Marmite butter – peng. Would eat again many times.’
And finally, Chris’s thoughts: ‘Looks like a suspicious hummus. Tastes like Britain’s answer to PB&J.’
The Marmite Cream Cheese comes in a 140g pot and costs £2.50.
It might look a bit unappealing but it is said to be the perfect combination of cool and light cream cheese mixed with that unmistakeable Marmite spread.
The log of butter comes in at 100g and will set you back £3. You might want to use it on your steak for the perfect salty-sweet caramelisation, on your toasties or jacket potato.
And finally, the first-ever Marmite product to be available in bakery, the cheese twist will be available for £1 (not in stores yet, but coming soon).
April Preston, from M&S says: ‘Partnering with an iconic and loved brand like Marmite is the stuff dreams are made of, so when the opportunity arose to collaborate with them on these new and innovative products, we knew the end result was going to be delicious.
‘I am personally a huge lover of the Marmite Creamy Butter, it’s brilliant stirred through vegetables like broccoli and mixed into pasta dishes for the family. I can’t wait to see what customers make of the range!’
So, will you be trying it out?
